John Henry Barrett

John Henry Barrett (“Red Cloud” Miskwaanakwad), 86 of Red Lake died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Red Lake Hospital.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Friday, November 18, 2011 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Lake, MN with Fr. Jerry Rogers officiating. A wake will begin at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Little Rock Center and go until the time of service on Friday. Interment will be at the Big Stone Cemetery in Red Lake, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

He was born June 9, 1926 in Red Lake the son of Thomas and Jane (Yellow) Barrett. He served with the US Army from 1942-1947 during WWII all over the South Pacific. He married Cleona Stately December 24, 1947. During his lifetime he was a logger, carpenter, carpentry instructor, fisherman, boat builder and trapper. He worked for the Seven Clans Casino. He loved being with his family and spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He is survived by his 7 children: Jane (Jon Miller) Barrett, Karen (Adrian) Beaulieu, Tammy (Steven) Day Tom (Karen) Barrett, Lou (Trina) Barrett. Leon (Becky) Barrett. Kay (Jim Roy) Barrett; Sister: Katherine Gouge; Special grandson: Andrew Feather; Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his wife Cleona, children Clarence and Claudette Barrett and Laura Hazeman, grandchildren C.J. Barrett, Carter Barrett, Jim Smith, Robert Barrett, Louis Barrett, Jr., and great grandson John Henry Barrett.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Frank Barrett, Jr., James King, John Graves, Kevin Hart, Sr., Charles Barrett, Gerald Blue, Lance Hart and Darryl Maxwell.

Active Casketbearers will be Clarence Barrett, Jason Defoe, Thomas Barrett, Jr., Paul Smith, Robert Smith and Jonathan Miller.
