Richard Arlen "Kooch" Kingbird

Richard Arlen Kingbird, 57, of Hibbing, Minnesota, died, November 9, 2011 at his home. Traditional Indian Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 14, 2011, at the Redby Community Center in Redby, Minnesota with Spiritual Leader Steve Jackson officiating. A wake will begin Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Redby Community Center and will continue until the service. Burial will be in family burial grounds in Ponemah, Minnesota. Cease Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Robert (Moe) Rushman, Donavon Rushman, Tom Ravensborg, J.W. Parker, James Aikey and Chris White. Alternates will be Frank Strong, Jr. and Robert Parker, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Delbert (Pickle) Wertz, Darlene Wertz, Louie Clark, Harlan Strong, Harlan Kingbird, Dave Cournoyer, Sr., John Kingbird, Ron Kingbird and his friends and co-workers from Hibbing.

He was born April 8, 1954 in Red Lake, Minnesota to Cecelia (Rushman) and Calvin Kingbird Sr. He worked as a general worker for Minnesota Diversified Industry for 14 years and had lived in Hibbing for the past 37 years. He enjoyed playing games and visiting with his family and was a loving grandpa to his grandchildren.

He is survived by a son, Harlan Kingbird of Hibbing; a daughter, Crystal Kingbird of Mountain Iron; two granddaughters, Harmony and Autumn; two sisters, Rita (Louie Clark) Kingbird of Redby and Iris Barrett of Redby; a brother, Allen (Peggy) Kingbird of Redby; a special nephew, Ron Kingbird (Jami) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Delbert Kingbird, Harland Kingbird and Oliver Kingbird; a sister, Mary Kingbird; a niece and a nephew.
