Kathleen Marie Desjarlait, 62, of Red Lake, MN, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Evergreen Terrace Care Home of Grand Rapids, MN.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the St. Mary’s Mission Catholic Church in Red Lake, MN with Father Jerry Rogers officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7pm, with a prayer service at 6:30pm, on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Mission Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

She was born on July 26, 1949, in Red Lake, MN, the daughter of Leo Sr. and Ramona (Cook) Desjarlait. Kathy was raised in Red Lake and attended St. Mary’s Mission School. She later moved to Brainerd, and eventually to the Turtle River REM Home. She worked at the DAC in Bemidji. She liked to walk, sing, visit, dance, go to pow-wows, drink coffee with neighbors and friends. She enjoyed her visits back home for birthdays and Holidays. She was always friendly to all she met. She attended Mass regularly and loved to attend church services.

She is survived by: Her father, Leo Desjarlait Sr. of Red Lake siblings, Gloria Cobenais of Red Lake, Robert D. (Lorena) Cook of Bemidji, Charlotte Kay (Glen) Greene of Blaine, MN, Leo (Ramona) Desjarlait of Red Lake, Fred (Cindy) Desjarlait Sr. of Red Lake, Donald (Jewel) Desjarlait of Red Lake, Arlen Desjarlait of Red Lake, David Desjarlait of Red Lake, Several nieces and nephews,

She was preceded in death by her mother, sister Shirley Cook-Burgoon, brothers Reginald Lawrence and Brian Desjarlait.

Honorary Casketbearers will be: Ina Mae McNeal, Mary Ellen Cook, Ramona Cook Stately, Lisa Cook Defoe, Kayln Sargent, Rochelle Cobenais, Vanessa Cobenais, Kathi Cobenais, Sandra Cobenais, Sandra Cobenais, and Jill Cobenais.

Active Casketbearers will be: Jerry Cook, John Cobenais Sr., John Cobenais Jr., Jerald Cobenais, Robert Anderson Jr., and Edward Cook. Alternate: Douglas Cook.
