A man has been charged with failing to register as a sex offender when he moved onto the Red Lake (Minn.) Indian Reservation earlier this year.
According to a U.S. Department of Justice release, Glenn Lee Fairbanks allegedly lived on the reservation from Feb. 16 to Sept. 22 without updating his address
He was indicted in federal court Oct. 17. The indictment was unsealed today when he was arraigned in federal court.
According to an affidavit, Fairbanks was convicted of criminal sexual conduct on Dec. 19, 2001, with a condition being offender registration. On Feb. 28, a warrant was issued for his arrest for violating the terms of that registration. He was arrested on Sept. 22. If convicted, he could spend 10 years in prison.
