Winnipeg, Manitoba (October 13, 2011) -- The Manito Ahbee Festival is pleased to announce the entertainment line-up for the 2011 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards (APCMAs), and the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The APCMAs showcase the best in Aboriginal music from across North America, and the entertainers scheduled to perform reflect the depth and diversity of today’s Aboriginal talent:

The awards gala for the 6th Annual APCMAs happens Friday November 4th at MTS Centre in Winnipeg. The show will be broadcast live that same evening, on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN). Tickets are available at Ticketmaster for $37.45 (taxes and fees included).
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Each year, the APCMAs present a Lifetime Achievement Award to a worthy recipient of Aboriginal decent, who has made their mark in the world of entertainment. This year’s recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award is Errol Ranville.
RED CARPET BEFORE THE SHOW
For thousands of years, Aboriginal people distinguish those, who through achievements and accomplishments honour Aboriginal tradition, as people who ‘Walk the Red Road’. In the world of entertainment a similar legacy exists, known as the ‘Red Carpet’.
The Red Carpet accompanies many prestigious events, allowing fans to share in the excitement of the moment. The APCMAs puts the spotlight on nominees, celebrities, sponsors, supporters and entertainment industry leaders as they walk the ‘Red Road’. This free public event takes place at MTS Centre (Portage & Donald Entrance) on Friday November 4th from 6:00pm to 7:15pm – just prior to the start of the APCMA show.
ABOUT MANITO AHBEE
The Manito Ahbee Festival celebrates and showcases Aboriginal music, art and culture, with the 6th annual festival taking place in Winnipeg from November 2nd to 6th. Manito Ahbee – which means ‘where the Creator sits’ – honours a sacred site in Manitoba’s Whiteshell Provincial Park where Aboriginal people have gathered for hundreds of years to share teachings and wisdom. There are several petroforms at this site including one shaped like a turtle that represents Turtle Island, another name for North America. Manito Ahbee was recognized in 2007 with Travel Manitoba’s Tourism Award in the category of Aboriginal Tourism. The Board of Governors, staff and organizers of Manito Ahbee express deep gratitude for all participants, supporters and communities who have come together to make the festival what it is today.
