Steven Lee Smith, 49 of Redby, MN died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Red Lake Hospital in Red Lake, MN.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, October13, 2011 at the St. Antipas Episcopal Church in Redby, MN with Rev. George Ross officiating. A wake will begin at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Redby Community Center in Redby and continue until the time of service on Thursday. Interment will be at the Fox Point Cemetery in Redby, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

He was born November 10, 1961 in Red Lake, MN the son of John and Agnes (Oakgrove) Smith. He attended Red Lake High School and worked for the family logging business for several years. He enjoyed going to the casino, watching the food network channel and trying new recipes. He loved spending time with his niece “Shai” and visiting with his family and friends. He was employed at the Red Lake Casino in Warroad before his illness.

He is survived by parents: John and Agnes Smith, Brothers: Lyle, John, Eric, Phillip Smith, Sister: Linda Smith Nieces: Rebecca, April, Eileen, Tyrisah Smith and Aaliyah Lussier; A very special niece: Shailese Kay Smith; Nephews: Bryan, Sr., Bryan, Jr. and Phillip, Jr. Smith

He was preceded in death by his little baby son Darren Lee Smith in 1998, grandparents Abraham and Maggie Smith, Francis and Julia Oakgrove and several uncles and aunts.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Rebecca, April and Eileen Smith, Ashley Tourville, Shailese Smith, Daley Smith and Tyrisah Smith.

Active Casketbearers will be Lyle, John, Eric and Phillip Smith, Bryan Smith and Rodney White.
