Eggers publishes inspirational book

For many years, John Eggers, educator and public speaker, has contributed a weekly column to the Pioneer.

Now, Eggers has published a book of excerpts and selected essays from his material titled “More Than Just Words.”

“I went through all of my writings for the last 20 years, and I picked what I thought people would enjoy reading,” Eggers said. “There are 105 topics.”

The books cost $10 and are available at Kat’s Book Nook, Cabin Coffeehouse and Café and Grandma’s attic and at johnrogereggers.com.

Eggers said he decided to put together and publish the compilation because people have commented on his columns and told him the ones have they particularly enjoyed.

“People can pick up the book, go to any page and enjoy reading something, be inspired, laugh,” he said.

He said the entries are suitable for all ages from middle school to senior citizens.

Eggers said his wife, Kathy, is his partner in his publications.

“My wife is the chief editor and chief critic,” he said. “I think she does a good job. She edits my columns, too.”

Eggers said his next project is a Paul Bunyan Calendar which will be out before Christmas. Part of the proceeds will go to the Beltrami County Historical Society.

Each month will feature an image of Paul Bunyan, mostly taken from antique post cards and some information about Bemidji’s famous character.
