Franklyn Earl Gurno,50, of Red Lake, MN, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Sanford Fargo Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake, MN. A wake will begin at 3:00pm, Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Red Lake Community Center and will continue until the time of the service. Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Mission Catholic cemetery in Red Lake, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

He was born on May 1, 1961, in Red Lake, MN, the son of Frank Gurno Sr. and Ellen Norcross Downfeather. He was raised and educated in Red Lake. As a young man he worked for the Youth Conservation Corp. He attended school to become a Heavy Equipment Operator. He was employed by the MN DOT for 14 years, from 1992 until 2006. He loved to play pool, enjoyed attending pow-wows, going to the casino, hunting, playing dice, and playing cards. He also enjoyed working on cars and attending car races.

He is survived by : Brother, Frank “Joe” (Renee) Gurno Jr. of Red Lake, Sisters, Cheryl Gurno of Red Lake, Barbara Gurno of Red Lake, Special niece, Addison May of Redby, Nieces and Nephews, Brian Brown of Redby, Alicia Gurno of Red Lake, Frank M. (Bree) Gurno of Red Lake, Jason Anderson of Red Lake, Michelle Anderson of Red Lake, Ellenrose Benaise of Red Lake, Alberta Benaise of Red Lake, Jonathan (Hilary) Gurno of Red Lake, 6 Great-nieces, and 4 Great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his PCA worker and friend Bonita Hill.

Active Casketbearers will be: Jonathan Gurno, Greg Johns, Darwin Sumner, Robert Anderson, Frank M. Gurno, and Brian Brown.

Honorary Casketbearers will be: Lee Lussier Jr., Leif Saunders, Keith Dow, Verdell Beaulieu, Natalie OneFeather, Steve Johnson, All his pool buddies, Dave Gurno, Tom Gurno, Clarence Drouillard, and his MnDot co-workers.
