Personal grudge led to ouster of tribal members, family says

King Freeman, a former leader of the Pala Band of Mission Indians in North County, said Friday that eight family members were expelled from the tribe three months ago based on wrong information and as part of a personal grudge between him and the current chairman, Robert Smith.
