Counterfeit bills showing up at local businesses

The Red Lake Department of Public Safety would like to remind community businesses and residents to keep an eye out for counterfeit bills. The department has recently encountered reports of small amounts of counterfeit money being seen at local businesses.

The counterfeit bills could be in any denomination. If you have any questions about the authenticity of the bill, you may call the Department of Public Safety at (218) 679-3313 or visit the website http://www.secretservice.gov and then select “know your money”.

Please remember the possession, manufacturing or attempting to use a counterfeit bill is a serious federal offense. If you have information regarding these illegal activities, please do not hesitate to contact the Red Lake Department of Public Safety.
