The Red Lake School District #38 is seeking candidates to fill a vacant Security Guard position.

Terms of Employment: Wages and benefits per MSEA Master Agreement

Assignment: Red Lake Middle/High School for the 2011-12 School year.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Required

 Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.

 Knowledge of District and school building policies, rules and regulations. Federal, State and Tribal law.

Position overview to include but not limited to:

 To protect school district property, staff, students and general public against fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry.

 Screen every student, staff, visitor for weapons or other prohibited items using metal detectors and/or electronic wands

 Sign visitors into and out of the building and assist them in finding their destination

 Monitor security cameras as assigned

 Patrol hallways as assigned

 Continuously cover assigned location

 Check and monitor all doors are secure as assigned and/or scheduled

 Escort student(s) as necessary to detention, ISS or as applicable

 Be vigilant for gang signs or activity

 Work with law enforcement

 Use Crisis Intervention Training to control fights or other student misbehavior

 Participate in drills, taking charge and directing others, as necessary

 Write reports

 Use professional behavior and language

 Patrol bus departures and monitor student crossing guards as assigned
