Call for Papers: Identifying Programs That Serve Low-Income Couples

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 30, 2011

Mathematica Policy Research is seeking research on programs that serve low-income couples. The programs may focus on a range of issues—including healthy relationships and marriage, communication, parenting for couples/co-parenting, or conflict resolution—and may serve unmarried or married couples, regardless of parental status. Relevant research includes studies that evaluate program effectiveness, studies focusing on program implementation and operations, and descriptive studies.

This call for papers is part of the Strengthening Families Evidence Review, a systematic review of research on programs that support responsible fatherhood and strong families. Mathematica is conducting this review under contract with the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Please feel free to forward this call to other researchers, practitioners, or organizations that may have relevant studies.

We are particularly interested in unpublished manuscripts (past or recent), conference papers, and forthcoming articles that are not included in existing research syntheses or databases. Please include papers even if available online—for example, those on university or program web sites—because they may not be identified through database searches. We will identify other publications through our ongoing search of electronic databases, web sites of research and policy organizations, and reference lists of selected research syntheses.

More specifically, papers submitted in response to this call should:

· Have been prepared or published in 1990 or later

· Focus on programs that target low-income couples

· Provide information on (1) the impacts on or outcomes for program participants and their partners, spouses, or children and/or (2) program implementation.
