Primary Function:

Plans, organizes, implements, and delivers an infant/toddler, preschool program based on the groups educational, physical, social, and emotional potential. Also responsible for implementing a developmentally and culturally appropriate curriculum for enrolled children. Writes 477 and CCDF plan. Reports to New Beginnings Executive Director. Full-time with benefits, DOQ

Management Requirements: Attend scheduled work hours. Maintain neat and clean appearances and dress. Mentor, supervise, and evaluate educations and assistant(s). Responsible for distribution of correspondence between NEW Beginnings and families. Maintain constant supervision of staff to serve as role models by using appropriate language, hygiene, social skills, etc. Supervise all activities to ensure proper participation and safety of children and parents at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities: Establish a relationship of trust and confidentiality with enrolled families. Promote feelings of security and trust in the infants and toddlers by being warm, supportive, and comforting. Attend to children in distress. Ensure all sanitary standards are followed for: materials, facility, eating good nutritional meals. Planning and enforcing quality training and activities for parents and children. Work with other staff members in a cooperative and respectful manner. Maintain accurate, up-to-date progress records on children, families, and staff. Administers first aid and/or medications and/or attends to medical devices as needed. Write reports to funding agencies and develops and modifies Child Care plan as needed. Reports directly to the Executive Director of NEW Beginnings of any and all issues on a weekly basis.

Physical Requirements: Conduct activities involving substantial standing, walking, or moderate sitting. Lift child weighing up to 50 pounds, and lift, push and/or pull a burden up to 23 pounds.

Experience and Training: 4 Year Child Care Development Degree from an accredited college or university or a Child Care Associates degree preferred in Early Childhood Education, a related course of study or have three (3) years work experience in similar field. Must be able to achieve certificates or licenses: Pediatric first aid and CPR certificate, current PPD-TB, Hepatitis, immunizations and physical examination. Must pass local, state, and national background checks. Must be willing to learn and use the Ojibwe language on a daily basis.
