JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Independent Contractor

PROJECT TITLE: BARRC/ Shared Vision Alliance Project

LOCATION: Bemidji, MN

DURATION: Up to 9 months/ part-time grant- funded contracted services.

COMPENSATION: Within the context of budgeted allotment, compensation based on experience and qualifications.

The Bemidji Area Race Relations Council, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, and Shared Vision, a community project, are engaged in a grant-funded “Alliance Project” to explore and potentially develop a single, merged organization. Successful candidate will take a leadership role in the ongoing work of both volunteer-run organizations, and report to the Alliance Project Steering Committee.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Successful candidate will have experience working across cultures, demonstrating a manner that builds bridges and coalitions to effect change; a strong understanding of the Anishinabe communities in northern Minnesota; and an awareness of the issues relating to multicultural issues particular to the Bemidji area. Candidate must possess skills and experience in nonprofit organization administration, fundraising and grant writing, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

DUTIES: Contractor will serve both organizations, and in activities associated with the potential alliance. Duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Attending meetings of the Alliance Project Steering Committee.

2. Planning, facilitating, coordinating and documenting separate and/or joint meetings for Shared Vision and the Bemidji Area Race Relations Council, and other duties as assigned.

3. Under direction from the Alliance Project Consultant, assist in strategic planning activities including making contacts, setting up meetings, preparing information or performing some follow-up work.

4. Reporting to current grantors (Northwest Minnesota Foundation and Blandin Foundation) as required in award letters – requires a narrative and financial report of project progress.

5. Developing the organization’s current and proposed future budget.

6. Designing a Funding Model that sustains the Organization for 3-5 years.

7. Researching, identifying and securing funding and in-kind support, including written commitments for current and projected funding needs.

8. Developing a Staffing Model that fits budget design including job descriptions and qualifications for each recommended position
