Primary Function:

The purpose of this position is to support the Red Lake Business Advisory Board in carrying out the responsibilities of the Board and provide management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts, and organizing and recording historical account data. The main purpose of this temporary position is to prepare one of the Red Lake business entities for conversion to Great Plains Dynamics operating system. This position will report to the Red Lake Business Advisory Board, non-exempt.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

• Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system from the Red Lake business enterprise.

• Data entry of historical information into a usable and savable format in anticipation of inputting into the new Great Plains Dynamics operating system. Data will include sales records, bank deposits, inventory purchases, and expenditure records including issued checks and receipts.

• Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.

• Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.

• Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.

• Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.

• Protects enterprise’s value by keeping information confidential.

• Accomplishes accounting and Board mission by completing related results as needed.

Qualifications:

Accounting, Reporting Skills, Deadline-Oriented, Time Management, Attention to Detail, Confidentiality, PC Proficiency, Productivity, Verbal Communication and General Math Skills.

Education and/or Experience:

At least a two year A.A. or A.S. degree with a BA or BS degree is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The RLBAB will follow “Indian Preference” for employment in the following order:

1. Enrolled member of the Red Lake Band.

2. American Indian spouse of an enrolled member, or American Indian parent of enrolled tribal member with legal custody.

3. Other American Indian (member of a federally recognized tribe).

4. Non-Indian spouse or non-Indian parent of enrolled tribal member.

5. Non-Indians.

The Red Lake Business Advisory Board reserves the right to appoint the most qualified candidate regardless of race, creed, national origin, age, sex, or political affiliation to key positions.
