Rhonda Elaine “Hurd” White, 37, of Cass Lake, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, in Cass Lake.

A wake will begin at 5 p.m., Saturday, July 9, and continue until the 1 p.m. service Monday, July 11, all at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake. Burial will be in Prince of Peace Cemetery in Cass Lake following the service. Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker handled the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Shannon White, Terry Jones, Jay Jay LeBlanc, Joe LeBlanc, Kyle Mitchell and Alex Whitefeather. Alternate pallbearers will be Simon Goose and Steve Jones.

Honorary pallbearers are all her nieces and nephews.

She was born on October 25, 1973, to Robert Sr. and Bernice (Morris) Hurd, in Cass Lake. She grew up and attended Cass Lake School, graduating in 1992. Following graduation she worked as a black jack dealer for Leech Lake gaming. She married Shannon White of Cass Lake August 2, 2010. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to the casino, attending pow wows and doing crossword puzzles. Just prior to her death, she enrolled at the tribal college to become a game warden.

She is survived by her children, Kendra, Simon and Sandra Goose, all of Cass Lake; mother, Bernice Hurd of Cass Lake; brothers, Sam Morris “Fishy” Budreau, Louis Fisher, Terry (Julie) Morris and Robert L. Hurd Jr., all of Cass Lake; sisters, Cindy (Vern) Hurd, Deborah Jones, April Hurd and Maggie (Alex) Whitefeather, all of Cass Lake; and husband.

She was preceded in death by her father; brothers, Gerald Hurd, Lowell Fisher, and Darryl Ryan; sisters, Patricia Morgan, Kathleen Hurd and both sets of grandparents.
