Kandace Blaine (“Gaa Gii Ge Ikwe”—Forever Woman) Dunn, 22, of Cass Lake, died Sunday, June 26, 2011, at her home.

A traditional funeral will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake. A wake will begin at noon Monday, July 4, and continue until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Morgan cemetery in Cass Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

Active pallbearers will be Shane Dunn, Eldon Dunn, Kyle Dunn, Dustin Fairbanks, Bradley Dunn and Adrian Dunn.

Honorary pallbearers will be namesake Caroline Wind, Aundria Dunn, Rainna Dunn, RaeAnne Dunn, Dora Fairbanks, Onawa Dunn, Cheryl “Tato” LaRose, Cheryl Dunn, Deborah (Gene) Fairbanks, Nancy Kingbird, Barb (Pat) Haugen, Irene Harrison, Beatrice Dunn and Sammi Jo.

She was born February 19, 1989, in Bemidji. She attended Cass Lake Elementary and graduated from YouthBuild in Bemidji. She was in the process of completing the EMT program, which she was looking forward to becoming. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, attending pow-wows and being with her children and family.

She is survived by her children, Analise (3 years old) and Rashawn (5 months old); mother, Mona (Kyle) Dunn of Green Bay, Wis.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, great-grandmother and great-great-grandfather.
