Harmony Natural Foods Co-op and the Environment

We care about the environment and we’ll help you to do the same. We show environmental awareness in our choice of products and packaging. Shop our bulk foods department for minimal packaging; you may opt to reuse your own containers and cut down packaging costs.

We invite you to read our newsletter to stay informed on food and ecology issues. We support local and national efforts to reduce waste, to recycle, and to protect our environment and the foods we eat.

Harmony Natural Foods Co-op and the Farmers who Grow Our Food

One of our favorite ways to combine the values of cooperativism, environmental concerns, and supporting local endeavors is to buy local. It is one of our goals to buy locally whenever we can combine our needs for quality product that meets our standards and varied selection. We love our farmers! Blackstar Dairy in rural Solway is family owned and operated, Ed and Lily Vesley supply us with wonderful produce, dried pinto and kidney beans, and free range eggs. Yma, Shane, and Bodi Sautbine are in their second season of organic gardening and their green thumbs only grow greener – their fresh greens are outstanding! These are just a few of our local family farmers; we also carry items from fresh roasted coffee to wild rice to naturally raised meats - all local, all produced by individuals who are our neighbors.

Harmony Natural Foods Co-op and Our Community

Harmony contributes to community programs. We work cooperatively with and contribute to fund raisers for local organizations that address human needs. We’ve helped Headwaters Science Center, Beltrami County Humane Society, Finlandia Ski Race Event, Bemidji Food Shelf, House of Hospitality, Public Television and many other local groups. Cooperatives are about community and the people we interconnect with – Harmony is not just a store - it is a community of neighbors from all walks of life and ideologies working together.

Harmony Means Excellent Food and Experienced Service

Some shoppers cook everything from scratch, some create quick nutritious meals from natural mixes or frozen food, while others enjoy our fresh deli soups, sandwiches, salads, and spreads. You may choose from strictly organic foods, fair-trade coffees, bulk items, and fine chocolates. What brings us all together is our shared interest in top quality food, our protective attitude toward the environment, and belief in fair sustainable trade. At Harmony you can get food that's fun to eat, good for you, others and the Earth! We enjoy finding unique ethnic and local foods to share with our shoppers. Our membership is diverse and so is our product line. When you couple excellent natural products and a staff with over 75 years of experience in natural foods you receive the kind of service you deserve.
