Seminole Tribe of Florida Celebrates 100th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hollywood Seminole Reservation at Seminole Okalee Indian Village

Colorful and Creative Pow-wow Dancing Competition, Native American Crafts Showcase, Alligator Wrestling and More Featured at This Year's Landmark Festival

WHAT: The Seminole Tribe of Florida will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of its Hollywood Seminole Reservation at this year's Seminole Okalee Indian Village Pow- wow.

This three-day event will showcase the rich history of the Seminole Tribe through exhibition Pow-wow dancing and competitions, a Native American crafts marketplace, traditional food, alligator wrestling and wildlife and snake shows and more.

Friday, July 1 kicks off at 10 a.m. with exhibition Pow-wow dancing inside the Seminole Okalee Indian Village Gallery followed by wildlife and snake shows and an alligator wrestling show at the Seminole Okalee Indian Village Amphitheater. At 1 p.m. each afternoon in Hard Rock Live, Seminole Tribe of Florida Tribal Council representatives, dignitaries, veterans and royalty including Little Miss and Mr. Seminole, Miss and Jr. Miss Seminoles will participate in a grand entry invocation to start the official dancing competition. Men will be judged in Traditional, Grass and Fancy categories while women will compete in Traditional, Jingle and Fancy Shawl categories. The dancers will be accompanied by Southern Drums from the Poor Boyz and Northern Drums from Mandaree. Additional wildlife and snake shows and alligator wrestling shows will take place throughout the weekend in between Pow-wow dancing segments. Winners of the competition will be announced at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 3.

A diverse assortment of Seminole Indian vendors will also be selling handmade Native American arts and crafts as well as freshly prepared traditional Seminole Indian food inside Hard Rock Live.

Saturday, July 2 from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Sunday, July 3 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

WHO: Presented by the Seminole Tribe of Florida and sponsored by Seminole Media Productions, Billie Swamp Safari and Florida Seminole Tourism.

COST: Admission is $6 for adults (13 - 54), $5 for seniors (55+) and free for children ages 12 and under. Tickets will be available each day at the Seminole Okalee Indian Village and at the Hard Rock Live box office. Seminole Tribe of Florida members and employees are free (must show Tribal and/or employee ID).
