Delmer Jones Sr.

 

Delmer LeRoy Jones Sr., 81, of Cass Lake, died Saturday, June 25, in his home.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake. A wake began at 5 p.m., Monday, June 27, at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, and will continue until the service. Burial will be in the Prince of Peace Cemetery in Mission. Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker handled the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be James, Terry, Brandon, Justin, Delmer and Randy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Howard, Jerry and Donald.

He was born May 16, 1930, to George and Julia (Goodwin) Jones, in the Mission Cass Lake area. He grew up in the Mission Cass Lake area and married Doloras Budreau Jones. They had eight children together.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, pow wows and stock-car racing.

He is survived by his children, Delmer Jr. (Doris) Jones of Cass Lake, Julie (Terry) Jones of Cass Lake, Joseph (Heidi) Jones of Cass Lake and Bill (Jolene) Jones of Minneapolis, Minn .; step children, Vikki, Bev, Mike, Donald and Pat; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children, George, Howard, Oran and Pattisue; step-daughter, Dorreen “Kay” Seelye and all of his siblings.
