Faulty Regulator and Trees Causing Power Outages in Little Rock Area

For the past 8 days, starting on the Monday morning of June 20, 2011, at least once a day, the electricity has shut down for some homes in the Little Rock District of the Red Lake Indian Reservation. The outages have lasted from a couple of minutes, to a couple of hours.

Today, Customer Service Supervisor Christopher M. Corradi stated in an email that they have been working to try and find the problem in this area.

"Finally, we were able to pinpoint the main cause when the power went out again (yesterday)," Corradi wrote. "Our crews will be in Red Lake today replacing a regulator that we believe should stop the outages. There are also quite a few trees that are interfering with the overhead lines in the area."

Corradi apologized for the inconvenience and added that many times, when the power goes out for a short period of time, it was hard to find the exact issue right away.

"We will be in the area today to finalize our fixes to the equipment that needs replacing," he added.

Over 80 homes had been affected by the problem, another source had stated yesterday.

If anyone else has problems in this area, or has further questions on this matter, customers are urged to contact Beltrami Electric Cooperative at 218-444-2540, or email Mr. Corradi at ccorradi@beltramielectric.com
