Primary Function:
Coordinate, investigate & assess, makes referrals & case reports on all child abuse/neglect reports. Full-time position with benefits, directly responsible to and reports to the Director of Family & Children Services.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties:
• Coordinate with law enforcement initial response to child abuse/neglect reports;
• Complete interviews and assessments on all child abuse/neglect reports;
• Provide information and referrals to families;
• Work closely with Prosecutor in assessing and filing CHIPS petitions;
• Collect data, preparation of case reports, assessments, closing summaries, monthly, quarterly and annual reports;
• Participate in multi-disciplinary & child protection team meetings;
• Participate in on-call after hours rotation;
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree, Social Work preferred and two years related experience; Or
• Two years post-high school education and four years Human Services related experience;
• Strong interviewing skills, good written and verbal communication skills;
• Knowledge of family dynamics of child abuse;
• Knowledge and skills needed for child abuse, neglect risk assessment and investigation;
• Good record keeping & computer skills;
• Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively;
• Must be able to manage crisis situations and flexible working conditions;
• Knowledge of Red Lake families and community resources;
• Able to maintain strict CONFIDENTIALITY;
• Must have valid MN driver’s license, auto insurance and vehicle for work;
• Must pass background investigation, mandatory drug testing policy.
