Patricia Needham, age 82, of Red Lake, Minn. died, Monday, June 06, 2011 at the Red Lake PHS Hospital, Minn.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 9, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Red Lake, Minn. with Fr. Jerry Rogers officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Red Lake, Minn. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, Minn.

Honorary bearers will be Mary Rose Skinaway, Ruth Beaulieu, Kathy Dudley, Esther Moore, Delores English and Mary Ellen Stillday.

Casket bearers will be Michael Needham, Randolph Needham, Victor Roy Jr., Roger White, Jr., Chad Prentice and Charles Charnoski, Jr.

Patricia Jane Needham was born February 23, 1929 in Red Lake, Minn. to Joseph and Julia (Johnson) Needham. She grew up in Red Lake and graduated from Marty High School, South Dakota. Pat then attended Haskell Junior College in Lawrence, Kan. After college Pat moved to Washington, DC and went to work for Indian Health Services as an executive secretary. Her job brought her also to Albuquerque, N.M., Aberdeen, S.D. and finally Bemidji, Minn. She moved to Red Lake, Minn. in 1965 and went to work for the Red Lake School District #38 as a secretary to the superintendent. She retired in 1988. She liked to visit family and friends, gardening and going to the casino. After retirement she participated in Wisdom Steps, as an elder advocate for native American prevention conference, and Healing Pathways board member. She liked attending pow wows and was a jingle dress dancer.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam (Gary) Branchaud of Red Lake, Minn .; 2 grandchildren, Timothy and Krysta Needham; sister, Marian Prentice of Redby, Minn. and Elaine Nez of San Jose, Calif .; brother, Donald Needham, Sr. of Red Lake, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Maynard, James, Marvin, Loren and Robert; sisters, Dorothy and Barbara.
