Redby Holds 2nd Annual Spring Fling

An Effort to Reduce Crime

The Second Annual Spring Fling will be held in Redby on Saturday June 4th, 2011 from 1 to 4 PM at the Art Thunder Memorial Park in Redby.

Some of the happenings during the day will be a BBQ Rib Cook-off, Bouncy House for the kids, Games, Dancing, a three-man basketball competition, Potluck Feast, and much more.

According to organizer Alice Benais, the Redby Board, Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Team, and Redby Community Patrol meet the first Monday of each month to plan this and other activities for the community.

"Although volunteers are only a handful of community members, they work tirelessly when planning and organizing these community events", said Benais. "Their goal is to bring neighbors and friends together in a positive way to have fun, eat, visit, and meet new people in efforts to reduce crime. By getting to know each other people begin to watch out for each other."

The last event the Redby group planned was the Fall Festival.

"This event was a huge success! With more than 400 participants", said Benais. She hopes that the Spring Fling will have even more participants.

Entry deadline for the BBQ Rib Cook-off (open to everyone) is at 10:00 a.m. sharp, at the park. All contestants must bring their ingredients for home made BBQ sauce and three racks of baby back ribs. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite dish and have a fun filled day!!!

Spring Fling is sponsored by the Redby Board, Redby Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Team, and Redby Community Patrol and many volunteers.
