Leech Lake lists foster care rules

Leech Lake Child Welfare Foster Care Program informs potential foster care parents on the process and goals of the program.

The Leech Lake Child Welfare Foster Care Program helps provide healthy, safe, and stable environment for children in the foster care system. The agency goal is to keep children with their families, instead of putting them with non-relatives and reunify children with their parents and families. There are currently 40 foster care home categories ranging from regular, therapeutic, emergency and relative. The agency also processes temporary licenses for families who have relatives in foster care.

In order to receive a foster care license of any category, applicants need to complete the intake process with background checks on anyone in the home 13 years or older, finger prints for anyone 18 years or older, urine analysis on anyone 18 years or older, physicals on anyone 18 years or older and application packet. Applicants have 90 days to complete the process.

For details, call 335-4485 for Rita Pemberton or 335-4460( for Erin Robinson.
