Debra Kay (McMurrin) Tibbetts, 56, of Cass Lake, died Friday, April 29, 2011, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the Prescott Community Center in Cass Lake.

The honorary casket bearers will be Norma Knapczyk, Shirley Dunn and Patsy Kay Fisher.

She was born Aug. 6, 1954, to Norma (Frazer) and Larry McMurrin in Grand Rapids, Minn. She attended and graduated from Walker High School. She went to school for nursing, but decided it wasn’t for her. She was a waitress at Dot’s 371 Cafe in Cass Lake. Later, she moved to Walker and worked at Stai's Tree Nursery before moving to Cass Lake, where she worked at Teals Super Value. In addition to working throughout her life, she was a great homemaker. On April 12th, 2011, she married Clyde Charles Tibbetts in a private ceremony.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, taking pictures, and spending time with family.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Eugene Northbird, Brian Northbird of Cass Lake and Shannon (Rachel) Northbird of Walker; a daughter, Rebecca (David) Northbird of Cass Lake; two step-sons, Troy Tibbetts and Travis (Nicole) Tibbetts of Vancouver, Wash.; sisters, Annie McMurrin, Laura McMurrin and Susan McMurrin, all of Walker; 11 grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins.
