Results of Prescription Drug Drop Off Day

Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office – May 4, 2011

The Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force reported over 40 citizens took advantage of the Prescription Drug Drop-Off day in Bemidji. A total of 130 pounds of out-dated or no longer needed pharmaceuticals were turned in Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Law Enforcement Center in Bemidji.

The event was held in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) national campaign to keep children safe through eliminating expired or otherwise unused prescription drugs.

The first national event of this kind was held in September of 2010 and has resulted in many police agencies taking on the challenge to clean up pharmaceuticals that need to be destroyed in an environmentally friendly and safe manner.

The next Beltrami County Prescription Drug Drop Off day will be scheduled for this fall in Beltrami County.
