Voters wearing masks streamed into the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in the midst of the pandemic - unlike a record number of Minnesotans who took advantage of early voting this year. For some, going to the voting booth on Election Day is a strongly held tradition they refused to miss despite the novel coronavirus. Some just found it easier because they were too busy to pursue an absentee ballot and turn it in before the Nov. 3 election. Others feared mail-in ballots would go uncounted....
Voters have cast their ballots after a long, divisive presidential campaign between Republican President Donald Trump and former Democratic Vice President Joe Biden. In addition to the race for president, 35 seats in the U.S. Senate are up for grabs this year. Democrats are trying to win the majority in the Senate and take control of both chambers of Congress. To make that happen, Democrats need a net gain of four seats, or three if Biden wins and the vice president serves as a tiebreaker in...

Polls started closing in key states where some of the nation's most well-known senators were on the ballot. In Kentucky, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell fended off Democrat Amy McGrath, a former fighter pilot in a costly campaign, but he acknowledged his GOP colleagues face tougher races. It...

An anxious Minnesota electorate awaited results in Tuesday's historic general election, but voters and election workers alike reported mostly calm conditions at polls around the state. The tranquillity across Minnesota's precincts belied earlier worries of an election disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic and security breaches at polling places. "It's really about the absence rather than the presence of things to report," Secretary of State Steve Simon said Tuesday afternoon....
