MADISON, Wis. - Officials from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection announced that industrial hemp licensing applications and registrations are available for the 2019 growing season in Wisconsin. The research pilot program requires individuals who want to grow or process industrial hemp to obtain a license from DATCP. The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments Tuesday in a five-year-old case that questions the rights outlined in an 1855 treaty between the United States and Washington’s Yakama Nation. Earlier this year, the FCC renewed and renamed its tribal government task force, established in 2011, as the Native Nations Communications Task Force. The task force advises the FCC on the impact of various proposals on Tribal self-sufficiency, economic development and access to communications facilities and services.
