    WALKER -- Authorities are searching for a Federal Dam man after a canoe was found capsized Tuesday night on Leech Lake. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an overturned canoe on the east side of Leech Lake in the Sugar Point area at 6:49 p.m. Tuesday. Search efforts began immediately for the 66-year-old man from Federal Dam, Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch said in a release.   • Man convicted of aiding Bemidji murderer who burned woman's body

    The last of three co-defendants has been convicted of aiding in burning the body of a Bemidji woman who was slain by her children’s father during an argument. Brandon Rossbach, 32, of Bemidji, was found guilty Tuesday by jurors during a six-day trial in Beltrami County District Court of aiding an offender, a felony. Rossbach remains jailed ahead of a Dec. 20 sentencing.     MORTON COUNTY, N.D. — Negotiations between protesters and law enforcement broke down Wednesday, Oct. 26, with protesters holding their ground at a frontline camp to block the Dakota Access Pipeline. Cass County Sheriff Paul Laney was among a contingent of law enforcement who met with camp representatives Wednesday on Highway 1806 on the other side of a roadblock established by protesters.
