RED LAKE — Red Lake volleyball downed the Silver Eagles of Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig in three sets on Tuesday by scores of 25-8, 25-17 and 25-12. The Warriors (6-5) got off to a fast start, surrendering eight points in the first game en route to a 25-8 win. On Thursday, September 24, 2015 the Red Lake Lady Warriors Volleyball teams hosted Fond du Lac, taking the best of 5 series 3-1. FDL won the first game 26-24, and Red Lake won 3 in a row for the win. Earlier in the week Red Lake defeated Halstad on their home court. Today's win was Red Lake's fourth consecutive win of the season, having lost their first 2 matches. They are now 4-2 on the season. On Wednesday, September 16, 2015 Red Lake Chemical Health Programs sponsored their annual "Back to School Fest" at the Red Lake Ball Field area and the Cage. On Thursday, September 10, 2015 the Red Lake Lady Warriors Volleyball teams hosted Cass Lake. The Varsity won the first game, but Cass Lake came back to win the next three games, winning the set 3-1. The Junior Varsity lost 2-0, while the Junior High team won their first game, but lost the next two to finish 2-1. Two people were killed late Monday night when a pickup truck collided head-on with a semi hauling sugar beets near Felton, Minn. The occupants of the 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup, whose identities have not yet been released, died at the scene after the southbound pickup crossed the centerline of Minn. A 54-year-old Karen immigrant was fatally shot outside his home on St. Paul’s East Side Monday night in what his family believes was a robbery attempt. WASHINGTON — Thousands of federal inmates serving sentences for drug crimes are set for early release next month under a cost-cutting measure intended to reduce the nation's prison population. The more than 5,500 inmates set to go free in November are among the first of what could eventually be tens of thousands eligible for release.
