History: In 1982 the tribe passed a resolution in regards to net size. The net size in Ordinance No. 1-83 states that the "uses or possess a gill net with a mesh of less than 3 1/2 inches extension measure shall be guilty..." The resolution also states, "a gill net with a mesh of less than 3 1/2 inches extension measure is an illegal net." The reason this was in place was because tribal members went using smaller nets to catch as many walleyes as possible because the lake was being overfished...

RED LAKE - On Thursday, September 22, 2016, a presentation called "Regaining Food Sovereignty: Canning Preservation Demonstration and High Tunnel Greenhouse Construction," was held at the Red Lake Center from 5 PM - 8 PM. Some of the items being canned included venison, buffalo and vegetables. On Saturday, September 10, 2016, the Red Lake Tribal Council sponsored a "Gathering with the Youth" Event at the Red Lake Pow Wow Grounds area. This event provided backpacks for pre-school to 12th grade students, and there were numerous games with cash prizes to winners, along with a cookout meal for all participants. On Monday, August 22, 2016, the Red Lake Chemical Health Program hosted their annual Back to School Fest near the Cage by the Red Lake High School.
