SELLS — The Tohono O'odham Police Department was involved in an arrest Thursday that led to the death of one officer near the small community of Why in southern Arizona, according to the Tohono O'odham Nation and the FBI. Gov. Doug Ducey's office identified the slain officer as Tohono O'odham police Officer Bryan Brown. A formal Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate has admitted to a federal bribery charge. Daniel Thomas White, 44, of Peever, pleaded guilty at the Aberdeen federal courthouse this week. Sentencing has been set for May 24, 2021, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney’s office. The Ute Mountain Ute tribal council has agreed to divide up $4.4 million of federal CARES Act funding to individual tribal members.
