  • Boozhoo from the Red Lake Secondary Complex

    Aug 21, 2020

As you probably know by now, we are starting the year in a distance learning scenario. All students will be given a laptop to use to interact with their teachers and complete their assignments. They will spend more time on them each day to complete them in a three week time frame. This schedule will be what we follow all...

WILMINGTON, Del. - Joe Biden is accepting the Democratic presidential nomination Thursday night, achieving the pinnacle - so far - of his nearly five-decade political career on the final night of the most unorthodox national convention in modern history. The former vice president is hoping the night helps the Democrats make progress toward not only unifying the diverse party but a deeply divided America struggling through a global pandemic as well. Biden was to be feted by family and former...

Fifty students need to quarantine due to a lack of social distancing. Much of the quarantine is...

  • Ex-Trump aide Bannon pleads not guilty in border wall scheme

    Aug 21, 2020

NEW YORK — President Donald Trump’s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, was pulled from a luxury yacht and arrested Thursday on allegations that he and three associates ripped off donors trying to fund a southern border wall, making him the latest in a long list of Trump allies to be charged with a crime. The organizers of the “We Build The Wall” group portrayed themselves as eager to help the president build a “big beautiful” barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border, as he promised during the 2016 campaign. They raised more than $25 million...

  • Twins end homestand on a high note, with convincing victory over Milwaukee

    Aug 21, 2020

For Ryan Jeffers' first major-league at-bat, there was no easing into it. The 23-year-old approached home base with Ildemaro Vargas looming at third, his speed carrying him to scoring position after a line drive to centerfield. And now the newbie could drive in the Twins' breakthrough run against the Milwaukee Brewers at the bottom of the third inning Thursday. Ryan Jeffers could have understandably failed to rise to the big occasion. Instead he exceeded expectations, smacking first hit and RBI...

  • Hungry Minnesotans can get help

Commissioner Jodi Harpstead, Minnesota Department of Human Services|Aug 21, 2020

Everyone needs help sometimes. That is especially true for Minnesotans who have lost their jobs or have been hit hard by COVID-19, especially those in Black, Asian, Latino, Native American and immigrant communities. As I have listened to community members across the state, one of the pressing concerns I’ve heard is that Minnesotans are struggling to put food on their tables The onset of COVID-19 has only heightened that need. In June, more than 426,000 Minnesotans accessed the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – an increase of 11% ove...

    Aug 21, 2020

MINNEAPOLIS — When Frank Paro and Lisa Bellanger took the helm of the American Indian Movement from Clyde Bellecourt this spring, they became the first nonfounders at the head of the half-century-old grassroots Native advocacy organization. Their ascension marked a generational shift for the social justice group and came on the eve — literally — of what some see as a generational shift in the broader social justice landscape. Paro and Bellanger were tapped as co-chairs of the movement’s Grand Governing Council in late May on the night before...
