ALASKA TOWNSHIP -- A pursuit on the Red Lake Reservation Friday evening ended when a Beltrami County Sheriff's deputy was hit by the suspect vehicle. The Red Lake Department of Public Safety held its 3rd annual "COPS AND BOBBERS" event at Fuller Lake on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. The event ran from 10am until 2pm and was for children ages 6-12 years old. The Mille Lacs Band and other Ojibwe tribes were raising concerns about the walleye population in Lake Mille Lacs well before the state closed the season early this week. BEMIDJI—Construction is scheduled to start next month on a new Shooting Star Casino near Bagley with a completion date expected in late spring 2016.
