CLEARBROOK, Minn. — A Polk County Sheriff's deputy suffered injuries from breaking glass when a man fired at a helicopter the deputy was riding in Monday morning. Charges are pending against Carstie Lee Clausen of Clearbrook, who reportedly shot twice at the helicopter with a high-powered rifle. BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji man charged with multiple burglaries in Beltrami and Hubbard counties pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of third-degree burglary and one count of second-degree burglary in Beltrami County. Nicholas Richard Helfenstein, 31, admitted to entering two fish houses in February on Lake Bemidji, and a garage attached to a house in June at the 200 block of Great Divide Road, and taking tools or electronics from each building. The 20th Annual Anishinaabe Spiritual Run began on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, with an opening ceremony at 9 AM at the Red Lake Pow Wow Arena. From there they would trek towards the Mashkawisen Pow Wow in Cloquet, Minnesota. They will be running for 4 days, finishing on August 6th.
