Minnesota's large employer minimum-wage rates rise to $9.50 an hour beginning Aug. 1, 2016. This is the state's third of three annual minimum-wage increases put into law in 2014. A violent storm that ripped through northeastern Minnesota early Thursday killed a 13-year-old Boy Scout and a troop volunteer when a tree fell on their tents.
