They can be complicated or simple, but they’re replete, once the key is turned, with Algonquian-based history.” http://magazine.p...

Gov. Mark Dayton canceled a meeting with business owners around Lake Mille Lacs Saturday after about 75 protesters in boats encircled him on the lake to protest a temporary ban on walleye fishing. Dayton was with a small group of people fishing for bass to promote the fishing that is still allowed at the lake after restrictions — including a ban on fishing walleye until July 28 — went into place Thursday. Dayton’s boat spent about 90 minutes on the water before heading back to land. http://www.startribune.com/dayton-cancels-...
The tough times that face America’s malls are starkly apparent around the Twin Cities metro area. On a recent visit to Burnsville Center, at least 18 store fronts were empty. At Southdale, walls on the third floor are painted black to disguise the lack of tenants. Even the Mall of America is turning to smaller, local retailers to fill space that national chains once would have coveted. http://www.startribune.com/for-many-malls-it-s-adapt-or-die-as-retailing-faces-dramatic-challenges/433346843/...
A motorist who was drunk when he fatally struck a boy in a child’s wagon in southeastern Minnesota will not go on trial Monday as scheduled now that he has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of driving under the influence of alcohol. Myles Keller, 70, entered in Olmsted County District Court what is known as an Alford plea, meaning that he maintains being not guilty of the charge but acknowledges there being enough evidence to convict him. http://www.startribune.com/plea-deal-allows-se-minn-driver-to-admit-to-a-dui-for-killing-...
