Darrell (Chip) Wadena, longtime head of the White Earth Chippewa band and one of the nation's most prominent Indian leaders, died Tuesday in Fargo. He was 75. A daughter, Ann Brown, reported his death at a hospital where he was being treated for a long illness. Wadena ran the sprawling White Earth reservation in northwestern Minnesota for two decades and also was head of the larger Minnesota Chippewa Tribe.
