In a letter to Comey, Trump said the firing was necessary to restore "public trust and confidence" in the FBI. Comey has come under intense scrutiny in recent months for his public comments on an investigation into Democrat Hillary Clinton's email p...

Former President Barack Obama was in Italy on Tuesday, speaking at a summit about climate change. Wait, is it really getting hotter? Because Obama was sporting a button-down shirt with the top few buttons undone, and although it’s not a full-on Burt Reynolds, it’s certainly … summery. And relaxed. The former POTUS is no doubt enjoying the more casual dress code of his post-presidency — and hey, it’s Italy, after all, the land of loafers and no socks. http://www.startribune.com/people-are-obsessing-about-obama-s-unbuttoned-sh...
SEOUL, South Korea — New South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Wednesday he was open to visiting rival North Korea under the right conditions to talk about Pyongyang's aggressive pursuit of nuclear-tipped missiles. Moon's softer stance on North Korea could create friction with Washington, which has swung from threats of military action to hints of dialogue as it seeks to formulate a policy under President Donald Trump. http://www.startribune.com/a-war-of-regime-choices-s-koreans-vote-for-new-president/421706923/...
Budget talks between Gov. Mark Dayton and Republican legislative leaders swerved off track on Tuesday, as the GOP-led House and Senate began to vote on and pass a series of major spending bills that the DFL governor promised he would veto. The breakdown in negotiations comes with less than two weeks to the end of the legislative session. It elevated the likelihood that the session’s closing weeks will be overrun with partisan recriminations between Dayton and Republican majorities, and the possibility of a lengthy budget stalemate. Such s...
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The voice of a young John F. Kennedy can be heard on what Harvard University believes is the earliest known recording of the late president. WBUR-FM reports (http://wbur.fm/2q45QmL ) that a 20-year-old Kennedy is speaking about then-President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's appointment of Hugo Black to the Supreme Court. Black was later revealed to have ties to the Ku Klux Klan. http://www.startribune.com/harvard-releases-1937-recording-of-young-john-f-kennedy/421810493/...
