  • Call Congress: Tell them to do their job

    Jul 28, 2011

The President spoke Monday night about the need for Congress to come together to meet our financial obligations by raising the so-called "debt ceiling" -- that is, to make sure our country can pay the bills Congress has already racked up. You'd think this would be fairly straightforward. For many years, regardless of party affiliation, presidents have asked Congress to do this when it's been necessary -- and every time, Congress has acted. • Criminals stealing info from ATMs

    James Walsh, Star Tribune|Jul 28, 2011

The card reader scans a victim's account information and the camera or fake keypad records their PIN. The thieves then u...

  • Birchmont men's championship: Syvertson advances

    Pat Miller, Bemidji Pioneer|Jul 28, 2011

Match-play scores can be deceiving as a golfer can play poorly and win 3 and 2 or nail every shot and lose 3 and 2. Wednesday during the first round of the Birchmont Men’s Championship elimination play, Tyler Syvertson of Bemidji and Jeff Cannon of Golden Valley were at the top of their games and both probably would have advanced had fate not made them early adversaries. On this day Syvertson prevailed 2 up but he needed to play his best to advance into the second round. “Jeff and I both played very well,” said Syvertson, who will face Matt...
