Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz welcomed new federal COVID-19 guidance Tuesday allowing vaccinated people to go mask-free in many outdoor settings, even though it will have little practical impact in a state that mostly required them indoors. The relaxed mask guidance from the CDC is another sign of progress against the pandemic that Walz said could result in a further scaling back of restrictions and capacity limits in the next week in Minnesota. "Masks coupled with vaccines is really the path out of...

    Apr 28, 2021

WASHINGTON - Americans will have more time to get the Real ID that they will need to board a flight or enter federal facilities. The Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday extended the Real ID deadline until May 3, 2023. The deadline had been Oct. 1, 2021, but it was becoming clear that many people wouldn't make it, in part because the COVID-19 outbreak has made it harder for states to issue new licenses. Congress passed the Real ID Act in 2005 to establish minimum security standards for...

    Apr 28, 2021

After a long year and a lot of anticipation, getting the COVID-19 vaccine can be cause for celebration, which for some might mean pouring a drink and toasting to their new immunity. But can alcohol interfere with your immune response? The short answer is that it depends on how much you drink. • CNN Should Kick Rick Santorum and His Racist Views to the Curb

    Apr 28, 2021

In recent months CNN has had two notable blunders when it comes to how it refers to Native Americans. When stratifying racial and ethnic groups in demographic comparisons, Native Americans are often referred to as "other." During its election night coverage in November 2020, CNN left...

So say the U.S. Constitution and countless laws, regulations, and programs that fund tribes to exercise self-governance and tribal sovereignty. Getting the state of Alaska to acknowledge that is the intent of a bill moving through the state legislature. The legislation would require state recognition of the long-standing legal status of Alaska’s 229 federally recognized tribes and wouldn’t affect how tribal gov...
