    Two men from Lac Seul First Nation are dead after being hit by a train in the small community of Hudson, Ont., near Sioux Lookout, according to Ontario Provincial Police. In a written release issued Friday morning, police said they were called about the incident around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.   • Senator Heitkamp, Franken, Durbin Unveil Bill to Heal Trauma in Native Children

    United States Senator for North Dakota Heidi Heitkamp has teamed up with Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Al Franken (D-MN), to unveil their effort to create legislation to fund trauma-informed health care across the country. The bill is titled the Trauma-Informed Care for Children and Families Act. Susana Martinez vetoed a bill March 29 that would have required some public school districts to more closely study and plan for the needs of Native American students, who have long fallen behind their peers in the education system.     School teachers and administrators in 22 states may legally punish children by intentionally causing them physical pain severe enough to leave bruises, cause hematomas, and send as many as 20,000 kids a year to the emergency room. But U.S. Education Secretary John B. King wants them to stop.   • Mountain Lions Kill 20 Sheep in Black Mesa Area

    WINDOW ROCK – Livestock owners living in the Black Mesa, Ariz. area are on edge after a trio of mountain lions killed 20 sheep recently. According to Amos Johnson, a Natural Resources Specialist supervisor stationed in the BIA Navajo Partitioned Land Office in Pinon, Ariz., at least one mountain lion has been killed.
