    St. Paul –The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has awarded $344,000 in Launch Minnesota Innovation Grants to 13 high technology startups. In round two of grant funding, Launch Minnesota awarded 13 business operations grants and two housing/childcare grants.   • Law enforcement respond to suicide at casino

    Carlton County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to Black Bear Casino and Resort Monday, March 9, after a caller reported a person with a hand gun and a shot fired inside the Seven Fires Steakhouse there. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, deputies arrived and found a male deceased, by self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, in the restaurant.     St. Paul – Minnesota added 8,500 private sector jobs during January and unemployment dropped a tenth of a point to 3.2% during the first month of 2020, according to seasonally adjusted figures released today by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).
