For the First Nations Development Institute (First Nations), 2015 was a banner year. During those 12 months, First Nations granted its largest annual dollar amount ever to Native American organizations and tribes. The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians voted for their Tribal Council recently, re-electing Alfred (Bud) Lane III of Siletz, Delores Pigsley of Keizer, and Lillie Butler of Siletz. BELCOURT, N.D. (AP) - An operation targeting fugitives on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation in northern North Dakota resulted in 18 arrests. The U.S. Marshal's Service and the Bureau of Indian Affairs conducted Operation Northern Lights Tuesday with help from other federal, state and local agencies. A similar sweep on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation in December resulted in 22 arrests. BILLINGS, Mont. — A suspect in the abduction of a 4-year-old girl taken while playing in a park on Montana's Fort Peck Indian Reservation was charged Tuesday with kidnapping, attempted murder and aggravated sexual assault of a minor. On March 1, 2016, the Chitimacha Tribal Police Department arrested Nathaniel Menard, 22, of Chitimacha Loop Road, Charenton, on an arrest warrant for Hindering Law Enforcement. While officers were at his residence, evidence was observed and obtained which led to the execution of a search warrant. During this search warrant, synthetic marijuana, crack cocaine, legend drugs and drug paraphernalia were located throughout the residence.
