    BEMIDJI – In the only contested race in Beltrami County, District 4 Commissioner Quentin Fairbanks lost to challenger Tim Sumner of Redby.     BEMIDJI – A record-high 1,293 cases of Lyme disease were reported in 2010 in Minnesota, where Gov. Mark Dayton proclaimed May as Lyme Disease Awareness Month.     A Bemidji man was sentenced Sept. 26 for crimes associated with a June assault in which he used a sword. Lucas White French, 29, was sentenced by Beltrami County District Judge John Melbye to 18 months in prison for felony malicious punishment of a child and 13 months in prison for felony fourth-degree assault of a peace officer with demonstrable bodily harm, both stayed for five years.     CASS LAKE — Citizens are pushing for more from the Environmental Protection Agency regarding cleanup of the St. Regis Superfund site. A public hearing Wednesday night at Cass Lake-Bena Elementary School showed overwhelming support for a more aggressive cleanup plan than the EPA had recommended at a June meeting.
