    According to a recent Facebook post from the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, protest actions of those opposed to the Enbridge Line 3 construction have increased. On August 3, a group of about 12 people were able to gain access into a fenced-in easement of Enbridge and occupied the space of a bridge that went over the Mississippi River.     Today, July 27, the Red Lake Nation flag was raised by the Bemidji City Council in front of City Hall to honor Roger Jourdain, Red Lake Nation’s first tribal chairman. Jourdain, who was elected in 1959, held his position for 31 years. New homes, the Red Lake Nation Tribal Information Center, Library, and retail centers were all built and established under his administration. Jourdain died in 2002 at the age of 89.   • Bemidji Woman Dead After Head-On Collision Near Leech Lake

    A Bemidji woman is dead after a head-on collision near Leech Lake. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 23-year-old Darlene Johnson of Bemidji was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix southbound on Highway 371 in Wilkinson Township in Cass County. Johnson was approaching Oak Point Road when her vehicle collided with a 2016 Ford F150 that was traveling northbound.     : The Bemidji Police Department has identified two male suspects in a shooting that took place at Ridgeway apartments, leaving a 17-year-old boy in serious condition. Detectives were able to work with property owners, witnesses and surveillance video to identify and arrest the 17-year-old juvenile suspect.     The Bemidji Area School Board has voted unanimously to send students in grades K-5 back to school for in-person learning. Those in grades 6-12 will be taught through the hybrid model.     A Cass County man was charged and will serve prison time for three counts of criminal sexual acts on three children. According to a release from Cass County, Richard Dean Wilson, Jr. of Walker pleaded guilty in court on Thursday to one count of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and two counts of Second-Degree Sexual Conduct for acts committed against three separate children.     According to a statement from the White Earth officials, a Minnesota man was arrested in connection to the overdose death of a Naytahwaush man which occurred on Oct. 24. Authorities found Dominic Buehner, 26, unresponsive in the Village of Naytahwaush, about 24 miles east of Mahnomen. According to the White Earth Police Department and Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office, Buehner died from an overdose and pronounced him dead at the scene.
