Klein ISD may consider mass job cuts after voters reject tax hike

As school districts work to finalize their budgets ahead of the 2018-2019 fiscal year, Klein ISD officials now must figure out how to cut an additional $22.2 million in spending after voters on Saturday rejected a plan to raise property taxes.

Klein ISD had proposed raising it's maintenance and operations tax rate from $1.04 per $100 assessed value to $1.13. For a home valued at $200,000 with a $25,000 state homestead exemption, the tax increase would have amounted to about $13.13 more each month.
