Eleven candidates file for Red Lake School Board

RED LAKE, MN – Eleven candidates filed for Red Lake School Board elections at the close of business on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.

Three current board member positions are up in 2019, and this year there will be an additional board position, making the school board 7 members total rather than six.

Filing for reelection were Roy Nelson, Sr. and Barb Thomas. Tina Stately did not file for reelection.

Others filing include Alyss Mountain, Marcus Tyler, Cheryl Schoenborn, Nathaniel Taylor, Deanna Lasley, Robert McClain, Rae Lynn Sayers, Thomas Cain and Victor Roy, Jr.

There are currently 6 members on the Red Lake School Board. They are: Chairman Michael Barrett, Clerk Barb Thomas, Treasurer Roy Nelson, Vice-Chairman Chris Jourdain, Tina Stately and Jack Desjarlait.

Filing began on May 22, 2018 and closed at 5 PM on June 5, 2018.

A Primary Election will be held on August 14, 2018 and the top 8 candidates will advance to the General Election on November 6, 2018. At that time, 4 members will be elected to serve on the Red Lake School Board for 4 year terms. Those terms will begin the first week in January 2019 and end in January 2023
