Delton Reeves Buckanaga “Gitchi Makwa” Great Bear, 16, of Red Lake, MN died tragically Saturday, May 12, 2018.

Delton was born March 28, 2002 to Dennis and Charla Geionety in Bemidji, MN. He has been raised in Red Lake and was an 11th grade student at Red Lake High School. Delton was active in basketball, archery, skateboarding, and sang and danced at pow wows. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his friends and family; and loved music, basketball, skateboarding, archery and his phone.

He is survived by parents, Dennis Buckanaga and Charla Geionety; brothers, John Graves, David St. John, Charles May, II; sisters, Leah Bevins, Denise Buckanaga, Laberta Geionety, Chiana Roberts, Amber Bevins, Dinessa Buckanaga, Stealiecia Geionety, Dariun Caldwell, Chisa Roberts and Cheina Roberts; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Timothy Geionety, Dennis Floyd ‘Makwa’ Roberts; his grandparents.

A wake will begin Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. and continue until the traditional service 10:00 AM, Saturday, May19, 2018 at the Red Lake Center. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Red Lake, Minnesota. Arrangements are being handled by Dennis Funeral Home of Walker, MN (www.dennisfuneralhome.com).
